today, i will xeno your gender (i'm joking)

i (seb, acornweevil on twitter) identify as two xenogender terms, beaniegender and toongender, and you can find my descriptions and elaboration on them here.

other people may have thought of these terms before me, but these are what i define them as.

what is beaniegender?

beaniegender is a sense of gender connected with plush or stuffed animal-related nostalgia, particularly beanie babies, which the term is named after.

it can also be a sense of gender that is soft and vague, and/or involves the desire to be visually relaxing and/or bring a sense of coziness through one's presentation, to one's self and/or others.

it's accepting of any leaning or variance in presentation, and open to interpretation. if you identify with the term, but not necessarily with these descriptions, feel free to co-op it and define it for yourself.

what is toongender?

toongender is a sense of gender connected with cartoon characters. this can refer to any sort of stylistically animated character, but primary examples (in the opinion of the writer) include toontown and sanrio-like characters.

it can also be a sense of gender that is dynamic, vibrant and wildly varying in presentation. it can involve a want to be visually outgoing and non-comforming, or even a desire to make others question their views on identity through presentation.

it's open to interpretation. if you identify with the term, but not necessarily with these descriptions, feel free to co-op it and define it for yourself.

confused?

that's fine! other people have explained the concept of xenogenders better than i can, and i will refer to their explanations here.

definition of xenogender from the gender wiki

carrd dedicated to xenogenders

however, there is one thing i personally want to note: i don't actually mind people not understanding. in fact, i myself would rather cis people, especially those who are neurotypical, not refer to me as a xenogender at all.

what i ask is for you to respect people who use xenogenders, regardless of how well you understand them, and encourage others to do the same. it shouldn't take attempting to understand for you to accept and respect others with different lives and experiences from yours.
